Biography

Matthew was born in 1646 in Connecticut to Matthew Woodruff and Hannah Lambert. Matthew was baptized 16 May 1658 in Farmington, Connecticut "in the 12 year of his life". Around 1667 Matthew removed to Milford, Connecticut. Around 1686, he returned to Farmington.[1]

On 16 Jun 1668 in Milford, Matthew Woodruff married Mary Plumb, daughter of Robert and Mary (Baldwin) Plumb. [2]

On 11 May 1671, Matthew was made a freeman of Milford. After giving birth to at least seven children, Mary died in 1684. On 24 Nov 1686, Matthew married Sarah North, daughter of John and Mary Bird North, in Farmington, Connecticut. Sarah and Matthew had two sons.

In Nov 1691, Matthew died in Farmington. He was 45. In the record of distribution of his estate, valued at L.334. The children were listed as Mathew about 23 years old, John about 19, Samuell 14 years next Aprill, Nathaniell about 5, Joseph about 2, Mary near 21 infirm in her leggs, Sary about 17, Hanna about 10, Elizabeth about 12.[1]
